Hello all,

My names Dave, I finally had time to do some searching and found the site. I'm a Beverly guy, and I have an 89 YJ. Jeep might be a little older, but I think she is still looking pretty good. 4.2/5spd under the hood. Looking to get this ride on the road asap and have some summer fun.

I could definitely use some recommendations and expertise of any fellow jeep guys in the area. Look forward to hearing from you guys, and hopefully I'll see you out there soon ! Pic soon to follow

Replies already ? I'm feeling welcome.

So at some point in playing with the jeep I might have acquired a gremlin. My fuel gauge wasn't working so I ended up replacing the circuit board. Now the rest of my gauges don't work, and sometimes my directionals are a little slow to get going. Possible grounding issue ? I'm useless when it comes to anything electrical so Ive been stumped on what to do about it. Also been hesitant to call any shops about it since I haven't heard of any in the area that might specialize in, or be good with jeeps. Anybody got any ideas ? She looks kinda sad below, just sitting in the rain like that...

elias 4wd center. It's a little bit west, but they do a good job, as does Steve's Jeeps in Epsom, NH.

I will second Elias4wd. Just picked my Jeep up from there in fact. Not the cheapest, but they do top notch work.

Bah...electrical's suck. Especially on YJ's OBD1. Simpler, yes, but complicated enough to suck when it doesn't give you a specific answer like the TJs, ha ha.

Did you already eliminate the sending unit on the fuel tank as the issue for the fuel gauge? Does it work now that you've got the new circuit board?

Directionals could be a grounding issue, but the relay for it is easy enough to get to and check out (on the parking brake assembly area). Not sure how to test it besides switching it out. I'll have to google it.

Give Pioneer Garage in Peabody a try. I've taken my '92 YJ there a few times now, the guys do great work. As a matter of fact she's there right now getting the right rear shock mount welded back on to the axle. They're decently cheap too.

Nice YJ! I got 1990 YJ and I know how you are feeling with all those problems you can't seem to get rid of. I have same problems especially with gas gauge. I just accepted it as a quirk and moved on.

my big advice, keep your eye on rear crossmember where they attach to the frame. That's the worst spot where you can get rust fast without even knowing.

Hi Dave
Directional problem could be incorrect flasher or ground issue.
Check body ground cables/wires under hood and especially under dash.
Check all connections, un plug and plug back in all connections you may have touched previous to problem.
Good Luck
