Also known as a bug-out bag. Who of you has got one (or more?) and what is in it? I'm starting to assemble my first, and I'd like some input. I'm sure others can get some ideas here as well.

I'm planning to have something that's as multi-purpose as possible. I don't have a specific scenario I want to survive with this pack, rather I'd like to survive damn near anything with it. That said, I may add and remove items as seasons change. What do you guys do/have?

A few times a year I drive to Jackman MAINE and drive on old logging roads and trails.
We put on 900/1000 miles or so on a 3 day round trip. 250 to 300 of it on dirt roads.
It's 250 miles from here and there is nothing out there and no body to help you.
I would take the gear with me and it got to be a pain in the ass to load and unload,
so now I just keep it in the jeep 24/7 365
It's not really noticeable, I have it spread out.
No rear seat with a big bestop box back there.

Everything is sort of scattered during the move, but back in Boston we used to have the "gear closet" because of all the backpacking we did.

We didn't have a bug-out bag, persay, but I would grab everything I would need for a specific scenario within a 1/2 hr including food, supplies, etc. (So I could come decided where I wanted to go Friday during work, come home, pack, and leave with daylight to spare.)

With my background as a wilderness survival instructor, I tend to travel pretty lightly when I "bug out". That being said, I still keep a tarp, matches/lighter, rope, flashlight, shovel/saw, some cans of food, needle/thread, knife, moving blanket, hammock, tools, etc in the back of the Jeep at all times.

Seeing as my jeep is my daily driver and that i need the back seat in, there's no room for a kit like that. I like those seat covers that have the pouches built in for storage. I'm sure when I get more into trips and stuff I'll have a need for a kit. Like the old saying goes, better safe than sorry.
