Like Jeremy (Rafikie) said open open kinda scares me... While there probably isn't much snow left up there now, who knows what we get or what is up there melts a bit then freezes back over.

I pre ran the trails so I would know what we were facing, and there were a few spots that were plenty icey and open open you would not move. While I ran most of it unlocked, my rear is still a LSD while unlocked so really it was locking up went it had too. And other spots had almost a foot of snow. So while the class VI's are on the easy side, I'll bet you have your fair share of 'stuck' moments.

You guys really need to get at least one locker in your rigs! Its really makes such a difference. I couldn't imagine wheeling open open.

Got a arb front and ls rear but arb is on the work bench at this momento, putting it in a hp 30.
Me and my jeep should be ready in spring,
I don't drive it in the winter. I drive my other tj with open/ open .

I'm probably gonna pick up an Aussie locker, but I need a few weeks to pay for some other things first. I just don't wanna be that jerk that's holding everyone up on the trail.

Where are you putting locker ,, front or rear. if rear do you have a dana 35?
If you are going to put it in a dana 35 then you should get some stronger axles and some disc brakes on there.
Put grand Cherokee Disc brakes on there just in case you snap a axle,, I DID,, at least the caliper will hold the wheel on so you can get out of the trail...,,
I drove home in 4 hi with a broken left rear axle over 20 miles reaching speeds of 50 mph with out a problem , that swap is a life saver.

Cool to know! I haven't decided where the locker will go. I've heard mixed reviews. Front makes more sense to me, but more people say to lock the rear. Plus the rear is cool because you can leave 2 strips Razz But my indecision is part of why I haven't ordered one yet.

If you have a D35 I wouldn't put any money into it. Front locker auto (Aussie) would be best in the front for DD, in the rear snow driving is a bit different.... And it'll do you wonders on the trail.

Personally I wouldn't put cash into a 35, I had parts hanging around so I did the disc swap.
I'm building a d44 that I had got for a song.
33 Spline superior axles, housing and a complete new tj bracket kit with clayton shock shifter brackets
300 BUCKS INVESTED SO FAR..
Locker and gears and off I go.
I have a 8.8 in my yj that I was going to use for my other tj (girlfriends jeep) but I decided to leave it where it is, the yj is a 4 cyl beast .
I have a bunch of stuff hanging around that I have collected, It will pay off In the end, it just takes a bit of time,, which I happen to have a lot of..

So here is the catch 22 take. Ideally you should lock the rear h less you have a 35, but if you lock the front and live in New England and this is your DD then an auto locker is probably a bad idea too. Me not know when I 1st started decided to put OX lockers in both my 30 & 35. I upgraded to Alloy USA shafts in both and 30spline rears. When I decided to go to one tons I had broken multiple front short side shafts and never a rear. Am I saying the d35 is a solid axle? No but it is what you make of it. If I knew what I know then I probably would have gone 8.8 w/ a mini spool and Artec bracket kit.

I've owned Aussie, OX and ARB, but never got the ARB installed before having to sell it off. Aussies ar esuper easy to install compared to either of the other two types but they are full selectable case lockers. They also cost about 3-4times more. If you wheel from time to time and don't want to dump a ton of cash then the Aussie is the way to go. It will take a little bit for you to adjust to on the street though. But hell for $200-250 you can't really go wrong IMO
