Back Surgery Empty Back Surgery

Post  Mark 2/4/2013, 11:35 pm

I'm back from back surgery.
It took a long time for the doc to put it exactly in the right spot.
My 2 hour surgery took more than 4 hours but they gave me plenty of happy meds and it did go well.
It's all still in my system but I can still post (so long as Carol correcta all of the typing).
I was supposed to leave around 5, not after 9.
But I am walking. Tomorrow, I don't know about yet.
My cyborg parts don't get turned on for 2 weeks though.
Then I'll find out if they work right.

I'm looking forward to getting back out on the trail.

I'm still alive LOL,,, In some moderate to wtf pain right now, anesthesia has worn off.
Surgery was suppose to be 1 1/2 hours but took 4 hours.
Reason why I had surgery,,, I have spinal stenosis ( back)and cervical stenosis ( neck)I have worn/ messed up discs in my spine and neck.
The nerves going to my legs are being pinched or constricted where they go through my spine,,, so they say,, and they can't find where.

Your nerves weave through your vertebrae, if they get pinched due to wear of the disc's between them it sends unimanageable pain to places that you don't have a reason to have pain.

That is giving me tremendous pain in legs, hips and feet 24/7 and only drugs kept it in check but it still hurts mega bad, way more when I lie down and that equates to getting 2/3 hours of sleep at night=not good.
Really need to get off meds they are messing me up, they have some side effects.

The surgeries and procedures they're able to perform today are amazing to me. I hope that your pain goes away as soon as possible! I'm sure it's tough to deal with, but it could certainly be worse!

Yeah, I could be dead.
Now I have wires screwed to my spine in my mid back going to a battery in my hip / ass area and I have a remote control to adjust it and a charger for the battery.
The electrical pulse interrupts the pain signal.
Feels like the buzz only stronger, that you get when you touch a 9 volt battery to your tongue.
That is what it feels like in my legs now.
I can adjust pulse strength for each leg seperately and i can adjust for laying down, standing etc ,. pretty cool.
Battery lasts approximately 9 years or so then they slice and dice and they put in a new one.

I'm sure that eventually they'll be able to use a battery which is recharged by your pulse. When I studied nanotech a few years ago, that technology was in the works. I wouldn't be surprised if your next battery is the last one they have to put in. Technology is crazy! cheers

That would be awesome if I could get one of those nano batteries.

Thank you for your concern Mr,SteamY AND EVERYONE ELSE, THANK'S...
I'm looking forward to a speedy recovery, spring is coming and I have a bunch of stuff to get out of the way so I can Concentrate on my jeep and do some wheeling.
I can't even lift my hands above my head or lift more than ten pounds until scar tissue forms around the wires, they say six weeks or so.

Thanks everyone,
I'm doing the best that could be expected considering what I had done.
I have got MEGA PAIN even with the Meds, basically unbearable.
Hopefully this is worth it.
Can't sit down for more than 20 minutes, can't sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time, basically can't lie down at all or do a damn thing for myself, I feel helpless.
MAN, I wouldn't wish this pain on anybody !!!

News Flash...LOL...
Today my bandages and staples, OUCH, that I thought were stitches are going to be removed.
It has been a long painfull 11 days that really seem like one very very long day.
I can't wait to get back to doing the simple things that most of us take for granted.
Working on my jeep getting it ready for spring and doing some wheeling and meeting alot of the new members of NSJ.

Also, today my permanant unit ( battery in my butt cheek ) gets activated and programmed.
Today will be the first of many programmings that I will have.

COME ON SPRING!

I am glad you are recovering nicely Mark. For some reason all I can think of is: "Come with me if you want to Jeep" in best Arnie Terminator voice. Cool
