Different model Jeeps

Post  nsjbill on 5/2/2013, 11:51 am

Hi guys. Maybe there is an easy way to tell what model a Jeep is but I am still learning. I believe if it is 4-door those are JKs right? The rectangle headlights are a giveaway for LJs? What about the rest? Some Jeeps are in great shape and you wouldn't necessarily know it just by looking at them that they are several years old.

Just curious is all.

Cj- civilian jeep- not mili. If they sold it to you.
Yj- yuppie jeep- hip to be square headlights.
Tj- teen jeep- Totally!dude.
Lj- long jeep-.... Uh, yep.
Jk- just kidding...that's all I've ever gotten out of anyone on Jk's.

This was told to me when I first asked that same question. Makes some sense, but its the deepest into the initials anyone's ever taken me.
Personally I'm of the thought that TJ means Taylor's Jeep Smile

CJ - Crusty Jeep (they're old)
YJ - Your Jeep (my buddy has one)
TJ - THE Jeep (I'm either taking the Jeep or the Audi)
JK - Just Kidding (because it's too fancy to be a Jeep) Razz

JK- Just Kidding from 2007-2011. Then it became Justifiably Kickass in 2012 with the Pentastar!

Seriously though I hated the jk until they put the 3.6l in it.

I had driven models earlier than 2012s and they were nothing to write home about power wise. Then again that'a a whole lotta jeep there.
Is there a big difference between the two?

It is like a 4cyl vs 6cyl TJ IMHO. It is an unbelievably better engine.
