Any soft tops out there? Empty Any soft tops out there?

Hey guys,

I figure it's time to replace the 15 year old soft top on the Jeep seeing as it doesn't do much as far as rain protection goes. I have my eyes on a top that I might pick up in the spring but I was wondering if anyone had a top laying around for under $200. Trying my best on the college budget.

Thanks!

I have one that's in pretty poor condition. The rear window is zip-tied in (zipper pull is missing) and there's a tear where the top clips in above the doors. But I could sell it cheap once the snow is gone. Unless you want to come dig it out before that lol! It's pretty well and buried at the moment.

FYI,,
It looks like you have a older TJ, so you can put any year (97to 06) factory  TJ soft top on as long as you have the Complete top.
.
Side windows have different zippers on 03 and up also the soft top frame and the windshield latches are different size.

I have a 97 with an 05 top on it.
If the zipper pulls for the side windows are on the top and not on the window itself then that should be a newer one, if i remember correctly.
Good Luck,
Mark

Haha, I appreciate the offer! I am looking for something I can leave out in the pouring rain and not have to deal with a soaked interior though. I am sick of that with my current top. Thanks!

Good Luck,

That is some helpful information Mark. Thank you very much! I may end up just going with the Quadratop as it gets decent reviews, comes with a 2 or 3 year warranty, and is CHEAP as far as soft tops go:bounce: Thanks for the info!

I also have a Quadratop or whatever you call it. It's not for sale. lol! But I would highly recommend it. To be honest, I like it better than the OEM soft top. It has an extra support which is comforting with all this snow we've been getting. It also has the option to partially open, if you're too lazy to put the whole top down/up. And the way that the poles are designed as a result of that option makes putting it up and down much easier. All around it's a well-though-out design.

That's great to hear some more positive things about them. It seems like they're a good deal. I was planning on going with the replacement fabric and keeping my current hardware but now that I've heard about yours I am going to look into that! Thanks

This is phenomenal to hear... My TJ has been rocking a hard top since 11/2013... Needs a new soft top, as I threw the factory one out after many many many years of good use. Great to hear that a $300 option isn't all that bad!

Yaya I'd have been skeptical to buy it myself, but I bought a TJ with one already installed. Another bonus is you can remove the whole soft top without tools. So that's cool.

I've got the quick release pins holding the soft top on, i can have the complete top off in a flash  cheers
It was a PITA to take it off before i got the quick release pins kit.

At one point i had a Pavement Ends flip top and I would not recommend it, the top fit terribly loose and did not work well.

Myself I like the newer factory TJ top, it looks better than previous factory TJ tops it does not leak at all,and it has withstood many tree branches without tearing.
They are everywhere and i have a few of them and extra parts too so i'll never have to buy another one.

I have the clover patch convert-a -Top kit on my TJ and it really does eliminate the flapping in the rear corners of the top when you take out the side windows, even on the highway.
It also makes it into a Safari top so you don't need a separate safari or bikini top.
you can also take your side windows with you so you don't get caught in the rain w/o them.
I highly recommend it.

Just keep in mind that it is just $300 for the soft top itself not the hardware! But I'm sure you could find some cheap hardware on CL. I will also talk to someone I know who may be getting rid of their soft top frame in the spring. PM me if you're interested.

I've got the hardware from my OEM still! Thanks for the offer though!
