Darn esc stopping the fun
Have a 13 jku wondering how to shut off the esc so I can hang it around corners in the snow. I hit the little button that just stops the esc from burnouts but when I hang it around the corner or try to do a donut another esc lite comes on and it stops the jeep. I know in my old jeep (06 grand Cherokee limited) u had to hold the esc button for 10 sec to shut it off but it doesn't work in the jku. Could always buy a tuner but I don't have the $$ for it right now.

There was talk about this on the last run at OFR because Shaun was having problems with it. I gathered that there is a way to do it in some JKs, but it depends on model year. Some crazy sequence of key cycles and steering wheel manipulation, while standing on one foot and pumping the gas pedal with the right rear window half open. Or was it half shut? I'm not positive if there's a way on all of them and it's just different year to year or what. But someone with a JK would definitely know better than me.

Shaun's was also a '13. I believe there's something in the owner's manual about disabling it. It involves cycling the key and then manually (no power steering) turning the steering wheel lock to lock, or something along those lines.

There's a Jeep app for smartphones that has instructions for a lot of those things, btw.
(That's the only way I ever remember how to turn off the oil change chime, ha ha)
