Hello from Southshore
Hello - my name is Chuck I stumbled on a post back in April of an upcoming Appalachian Trail blog by Ryan M so I signed up for email notification. Ryan, I enjoyed following along and I appreciate you taking the time to detail your trip. Thanks!
Anyways, Ryan's most recent post mentioned a Jeep club so I emailed him for info. I presently own a stock Jeep with 32", nothing special but I do enjoy the simplicity of it. I've been working on another Jeep and hope to have it ready for the 2015 winter/spring wheeling season.

Not the best pic but what I have on hand.

Damn I was not expecting two awesome 5's when you said you own a stock jeep that is nothing special haha
The 74 looks real clean and straight - was it a new england jeep its whole life?
Great work on the stretched 79 too

Oh man, those are awesome! Definitely not what I expected with that humble intro, ha ha.
I've got a '77 CJ5 project I'm working on of which I'm clueless, ha ha, so I may bug you with questions at some point, ha ha.

Thanks Tonelin,
The 74 has a very clean frame, good running 258 hei 8mm wires however, the body is glass. The lack of gloss gives it that metal look.
I looked around for a good CJ6 but never found one that wasn't loaded with rust so I decided to cut and stretch a 5. It's been a fun project, I cut down the front 60 by 4” and the rear 60 2” I also bored the rear spindles to except 35 spline 1.5 shafts. I set the gears at 5.13 both locked. I rebuilt the T-18 tranny and D-300 and swapped in a 4.1 kit. I'll be pulling it with an AMC 360.
Thanks CrawlingForward,
I'm also rebuilding a 77 CJ5, well, I started it then stopped to do the stretch but will get back to it when I'm finished with the above project. If you ever have any questions on your project don't hesitate to ask I'll do what I can to help.
