Modifying stock JK bumper

Hey all -

Just wondering if anyone on here with a JK has modified their front bumper. I'm thinking about taking off the plastic bumper cover on mine, adding tow hooks, etc. Saw some custom ones on other forums. Just wondering if any local guys modded theirs.

I have not done any modding as of yet but I think I am going to add a bully bar to me MOAB edition AEV custom bumper. I will have to drill I believe. I will be watching this thread too!

Sounds good! I don't have the $ to spend on a bumper so I'm gonna get creative with the stock one..

I've seen some cool things where people cut down the ends and make the stock bumper a stubby.

I'm sure if you search craigslist you can find perfectly good stock bumpers with fog lights and tow hooks for cheap by people upgrading.

Some idiot in a parking lot "modified" ours, hence why it got upgraded.

I was going to buy a new bumper, I really dig the Rampage Recovery Front bumper but someone pointed out I have a custom bumper, I should not rush to get rid of it. So I think I will try the bar I mentioned earlier.

Most folks know what a stock JK bumper looks like, but just for due diligence, here is what I started with:



But that was boring so just to dress it up a little, I added a "Grille Guard" by modifying a Rugged Ridge Light Bar (found here on Quadratec, I found mine on Craigslist for $50) I used an electric grinder to remove the light mounting tabs, and sprayed the entire thing with Plastidip.

I then replaced my plastic air deflector with a steel skid plate found here





And then this happened...

But i got sick of the silver bumper applique, so now most of the time it looks like this
