I live the iron so far but need to increase the suspension travel for sure.

How about a vstrom. Sounds like the perfect bike for what you described.

I have a 2007 Suzuki Vstrom DL1000.  I have been riding it for 3 years and have put 20k on in.  I generally ride 10 months out of the year.

I bought a luggage rack off ebay for 120 dollars and mounted the ammo cans on so they would be (close to) flush with the luggage rack behind the seat.  It works awesome.  I can load up the cans with 100 dollars of groceries and lay a 50 lb bag of dogfood across the top bungeed down.

I am 6'4 280lbs.  This bike is scary fast.. i enjoy it every day.  It is a torquey bike to.. 2 up and I barely notice a difference.  Reliable, easy to work on etc.  Highly recommended.

Very Nice. I sat on one of those and found it comfortable but only new one were available in my area and were out of my price range. I got my 2007 r1200GSA last week and have done about 1000 miles and love it. I need to put heavier springs on it though so i can ride two up without out it becoming a bobber.

I see that i'm not the only one here that rides an HD Shaun, I have a FXR, it's a 1340. you would probably be able to reach the ground flat footed as seat height it is probably not as high as yours is.
I have had two sportsters, two FXR'S, a hand full of kawasakis and one Suzuki and have had great luck with all of them.
Keep the shiny side up!!

Mine is a slammed bobber style from the factory and overly low to be honest. I plan on getting some 13" progressive rear shocks and matching front springs for next year. It ridse like garbage right now.
