Starting to mod out the Jeep! Questions first....
I want to start by saying that I had an awesome time last Sunday in Hooksett. I can't wait until the next time! With that being said, I want to start modifying my Jeep. I know I definitely want to put a lift on, but that most likely wont happen until next spring. So I want to upgrade the performance. I've done some research and saw that installing a cold air intake and new exhaust will help with the hp and torque. Does anyone have any other suggestions or comments? Am I going in the right direction? Please keep in mind that this will be a slow build as money comes along.
Thanks!

Skip the cold-air intake. They're mostly a bunch of hokum.
You're better off starting out with rocker guards, diff cover, or skid armor. They're great because they'll still be just as effective and not need to be modified once you lift.
You can always upgrade the stock cage, too, which is a good idea even for on-road driving.

Oh, and if you don't already have it, a CB radio is another good and inexpensive mod!
Auxiliary lighting is another helps onroad (and looks awesome) mod that can be done inexpensively.

I agree with everyone, skip the performance mods and spend your $ from the bottom up. Upgraded steering, steering box skid, engine skid, tcase skid, rock sliders, dif covers, gas tank skid are just a few to upgrade prior to a lift where Id then recommend quality control arms as well.
Good luck!

Gas tank skid should be one of the first places to get armor for.
I smash mine all of the time ( not trying to) and i have 33s and a lift.
Extreme metal products .com ,gas tank skid, steering box skid and radiator skid combo about 250 i think..
I run those and i Also have their transfer case skid plate and front bumper. GREAT PRODUCTS!
Rustys off road has the best i have yet to see, tj radiatod skid, keeps out debris and sticks,
I have one on my jeep it works great.
Good Luck

Wow, thanks everyone for the responses. My wife is gonna kill me....haha! Preventative measures right? I'm sure she'll buy that!
Seriously, that's a great start for me. I will update as I can. I'm sure I'll have many more questions......

Check out my Classified thread. I may be able to help you start the modding frenzy. I will make you some good deals considering you are so close and I wouldn't have to ship anything.
