Hello! Newb from Western Mass!
Oh boy... there goes the neighborhood! lol Hello Everyone! I figured it was time to stop in and say hello! I recognize a few names on the forum
Names Dave and I'm from Western Mass, about 10 mins from the NY Border, so I couldn't be any further from you guys and still be within the state of MA. I am currently working on repairing a 97 ZJ so I haven't wheeled it yet. My last one was a TJ on 33's, locked/locked, long arms. Had a blast with it! Stepped over to this ZJ in the fall, its kinda like a rolling couch, only short bus sized. Suiting for me... lol But miss the top and doors off.
Its got 35's, I have some new ones too but need to get to Attleboro to grab em. Clayton Long Arms, 6.5" lift, RocKrawler Steering, AGR Steering Box, KOR Radiator Support, ARB Bull Bumper, Warn M8000, HPD30 w/ARB, 8.8 w/Detroit TruTrac, 4.56's, AtlasII 3.8:1, Powertank. Mostly a stocker, kinda bus sized.
Here's a poser shot.

Man....that is purdy.
You get so glazed over seeing built Wranglers that it's nice to see a well built Cherokee/Grand Cherokee.
If 35s, locked/locked, longarms, 6.5" lift and Atlas t-case are mostly stocker, what the hell would a built one look like? ha ha
Capable without being overstated. Very nice!
Glad to have you on the forum!

Welcome Dave!
Not sure what part of WMass (north/south) you're from, but my grandmother used to live in Williamstown so I can appreciate the "10 minutes from NY" thing. Route 2 over to Troy can be gorgeous if you time it right in the fall. The GC looks amazing, and I'll echo Geoff's thoughts on how clean it is and more important what a nice break it is from TJs and YJs.
Hopefully we'll see you on the trails at some point. Perhaps you'll even tell us of a few public trails you know of that you might host a few of us on???
Great to have you.
Ryan

Well.. maybe its more the driver that's stocker. lol A "built one" would actually get wheeled! lol I haven't wheeled this one yet. Still rebuilding.
But thank you! Nice comments! Yea it is nice to see something at least a little different once in a while.

Again thank you for the nice comments! I wish I could tell everyone I did it all myself, but I did build the last TJ I had myself. Bought stock, ended up locked/locked on 33's with all the bumpers and rock rails and crap. This one came done, just needed lots of TLC (Tools and Lots of Cash). So by the time I'm done and ready, i will have just about gone through everything on it. lol
Yes Williamstown is about 30 mins north of me give or take Beautiful town and area! The rte 2 ride is very nice in the fall, going west, or going east through the Mohawk Trail. There also used to be a nice wheeling road up outside of Williamstown that runs over the border in NY. Not sure if its still there or not. I'd love to meet up with you guys on the trails somewhere once I'm ready. I'm still rebuilding.
Re: Hello! Newb from Western Mass!
Welcome Dave. Nice to see you on here. Now stop typing and finish rebuilding.
Miss wheeling with you. There is a great group of people here. Stop in once and a while. Don't be a stranger. I'm really glad you got the bushings taken care of yesterday and we'll find a way to get the tires to you somehow.
WELCOME

Re: Hello! Newb from Western Mass!
nice looking zj you get there. just so you know you can fit 5 35" tires in the back of a zj with some tetris skills and removal of bottom half of rear seat. dont ask how i know this.

Well that was my original plan was to stuff em in there. I knew they'd fit. Also had the trailer. On my way to gas it up though I popped a tire, same way as I did the spare. Dry Rot sucks!!! So.... I had a zj with a flat and no spare. Ended up borrowing my mothers 4 day old Honda CRV with like 200 miles on it. And yes, we stuffed all 5 tires on rims into the back of that thing!!! I even let the air out of the tires to make them lighter. Good thinking ey?
This has the 5.2L in it. It was listed in my sig line, but I see thats not showing up for some reason? The engine is all stock except some kind of dual cone air filter. With the 318 and 4.56's in the axles and the 3.8:1 low range.... I need two feet on the brake pedal to keep it from rolling. It just powers through the brake.

Dave, next time you post make sure the "Attach Sig" box is checked below the text box. If that doesn't work let me know and we'll troubleshoot on the system side

Re: Hello! Newb from Western Mass!
Got them installed Sunday Morning. I'm not sure I like the blackwall look yet?? But I'll switching them over to my other steelies and getting rid of the soft 8's.
I also got some new nitro shocks for the rear. They are longer than the ones I had but same length compressed. So they should work pretty good.
The Jeep rides a ton better now with those new tires and new rear shocks! Holy cow what a difference that makes!
