I need seats

My driver's is all beat and covered with duct tape. So I swapped it out for a Bestop fixed-back seat. The seat isn't horrible, but the bracket required to install it makes it so that I'm too tall now. I would like something, really anything. OEM or aftermarket so long as I'm not too tall. I'd like a recliner, if possible. I'll even go for junkyard seats if you guys know of a place that has any TJs. My back hates me every time I drive because I have to lean forward just to see the traffic lights. It's getting old really fast.

Swap the seats side to side for now, just remove the lever for incline on the side of the seat so it doesn't hit the console.
Leave the bottom brackets in place and just swap the seats them selves.
I don't know right now exactly what to tell you but I'll check around to see if i can come up with a seat for you.

I've got a good passenger side seat that came out of my YJ when I swapped in some cloth ones. It reclined no problem when it was taken out, and doesn't have the fat boy lean like a lot of the YJ ones tend to. If you can verify that it'll fit on your TJ brackets it's yours for $40.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't fit, unfortunately. Thanks for the offer, though.

WJ and ZJ seats are direct swaps, btw.

Holland's Used Auto Parts in Billerica is a JY that usually has a decent selection.

YJs have a *ton* of various model direct swaps. But I don't know if there's a listing of TJ parts.

I know Clayton replaced the XJ seats a while ago with WJ? seats, so I wonder if his old XJ seats would fit....

I was just at Holland on Tuesday. Cherokees, Grand Cherokees and YJs for days. No TJs. Not one.

This was before I knew the WJ seats swap in (just found out today doing some research).

Will an XJ seat fit in? May be a stupid question. Thought I'd ask.

Well hopefully you should be able to grab a ZJ or WJ for not too much cost then.

(Might even be able to get a heated seat out of the deal!)

A quick google search suggests that the seats are identical, but the mounts are different.

So wouldn't you be able to just unbolt the XJ seat mount and bolt the TJ mount on?

I'm all for the idea of swapping in a WJ or XJ seat, my only concern is the height of the base. Does anyone know if you end up at about the same height as a TJ seat? I appreciate all the help and thanks for the link Mark. Hopefully I can scoop those party seats. If not, I'll probably be experimenting with junkyard cherokee seats.

The passenger's seat got swapped onto the driver's slider. When I dropped it onto the riser, the seat hits the roll bar. It's because the mounting points on the bottom of the seat are not equally spaced about the longitudinal centerline of the seat, but rather the seat is inboard of the middle.

That's too bad, I would have tried also.
Oh well now we know, make a note of that.
