Rear shock mount busted -- any willing and able welders?
Hey guys, just noticed my driver side rear shock mount is busted off the axle. Snapped in the middle just like its brother did last May. Anybody have good fab skills who might be able to weld it? And if not, do any of you guys know of a place around here that isn't as far away as Elias that would be a good place to take it?
I'll pay for all the supplies (obviously) and throw you a few bucks for the effort. Other option is taking it to Duff Spring in Medford where I had the lift installed, they did a good job with that and have a good reputation all around.

Willing but not able, more like disabled at the moment.
I would help you out but this surgery thing has me on the side lines for a while if you know what I mean.
Duff spring sounds like a plan, they shouldn't charge you an arm and a leg, at least not to do that.
Good luck.

AW Fab in Woburn is another good option. They should be listed in the Approved Vendors thread.
Keith is a great guy and they're Jeepers themselves (XJ guys) and they tend to have some good rates. Definitely drop by or give them a call.

Thanks for the input guys, just got the call from the guys down at Duff that it's all set. It would figure they told me it wouldn't be done until Tuesday, so I got a ride from there to work (where my office has the day off) only to have them call me two hours later to tell me it's taken care of. Oh well, more time later in the week to do some work on it.
I would have the Jeep the busts a shock mount on-roading though.

Welded my shock back onto the rear tube after Old Florida Road - then wheeled New Hampshire for a day. Drove all the way up and back. No problems.
The next day I drove to WalMart in North Reading and the welds broke. What does that tell you about state roads?
Re: Rear shock mount busted -- any willing and able welders?
Yeah no kidding. At least when the other one broke in May, I knew it was the result of coming down hard on a rock while me and some buddies were camping. My only explanation for this one is the wonderfully plowed post-blizzard roads of Reading in combination with their outstanding upkeep.

Why are we paying excise tax.
Pot holes in town are just that, pot holes in town.
How many bent rims an broken shock mounts does it take before a crater of a pot hole gets some attention.
It's as if the pot holes have quotas to meet before they get filled in.

Precisely why my other car is on air ride. It's only low when I want it to be. Which, around here, is pretty rare.

The only air ride I have is the 25 or so psi of air pressure that's in my tires, LOL,,
