YJ Upper Shock Mounts rotted out
Hello All, New here. I just got a YJ and didn't realize the shock mounts were shot. how much does it cost to have new upper shock mounts done in the rear? I don't know how to weld so I will have to have it done. I am feeling like this is going to sting. They arnt gone yet but with soon.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Not right across the street, but Elias 4WD is the only shop I will let wrench on my Jeep other than me.

Thanks I'll check them out. Are their prices reasonable? I am hurting for green at the moment but if these snap it will cost me more.

There are also some welding shops around that know what they are doing, you just have to do a bit of research and weed them out.
My YJ needs rear shock mount attention ,but my TJ comes first and the YJ is on the back burner,,Has been for a few years now,, but i'll repair it myself.

Re: YJ Upper Shock Mounts rotted out
One place I've gone to is Edwards Auto Repair & Welding right in Woburn center (Campbell St. if I remember correctly). I've actually considered having them to this same shock mount job on my YJ in the near future. All I had done was the re-welding of an upper door pin for my TJ upper conversion, but the owner (who did the work) was very knowledgeable when it came to working on older Jeeps, and him and I had a long conversation about properly repairing Jeep frames and he mentioned having fixed more than he could remember. At the time I went he was actually tricking out a YJ himself; he had just put a 373 in it, converted it to spring over, and had made custom shackles and a custom exhaust for it, along with a bunch of other stuff. The place is actually run by two brothers, and the other half is actually a body shop, so if you need anything painted you could make it a two-for-one, haha.
As Shaun (dongalonga) mentioned though, Elias is another good choice. I plan on having them do some work on mine in the coming months. They have an excellent reputation.

There is a spring and welding shop in Woburn  between Wild wood street and Washington street,  somewhere over that way.
They have been there forever.

Call Edwards, He said it could be between 150 and 300, maybe more depending on the condition of the frame.

Go ahead and check out the list we made of vendors we've used and liked (and feel free to contribute!)

Keith at AW Fab in Woburn is *awesome*. Neat guy, good prices, and is a Jeeper himself, so he knows what he's doing. I've used him for a number of projects. Definitely recommend him.

Used Edwards Auto Repair & Welding and he did a great job. He is going to get a lot of work from me unless anyone here wants to do some welding for me. Cash only though which through me a bit, had to run to an ATM.

Huh, I didn't know the cash-only thing myself. What I had done only ran me like $30 so I had the cash on me. Good to know.
Re: YJ Upper Shock Mounts rotted out
Happy to hear you got it fixed.
