Hey from Beverly
Hey guys, picked up a 99 xj about a month ago, first jeep, looking for some places to go off roading.
I finishing up installing a sub in the rear cubby earlier today:
Was a huge pain to locate my amp, wouldn't fit under the rear seat and required the passenger seat to come out to get it under there.
Its got
4.5" rough country lift (or so I'm told)
Hack n tap SYE
33's
Heavy duty front bumper w/ winch mount
probably other things I'm forgetting

Welcome! What's your name?
Club runs take place usually once a month, and the May one was this past weekend, so keep an eye out for the next one!

Re: Hey from Beverly
Names Jake, looking forwards to whenever the next run is.
Forgot to add that its got heavy duty steering and an upgraded steering box. No clue what the box came out of but it makes it easy to spin the wheel with one finger..
My current plans for it are to add a sway bar with quick disconnects (will require some fab work as one of the previous owners torched off the mounts for the sway bar links), probably get a winch in the front and I would really like to fab a rear bumper with tire carrier but that will have to wait a bit.
Do members do runs more frequently than once a month? Ive been itching to get this thing off road, but I haven't found anywhere to go thats even remotely nearby.

We have a "member runs" section, that allows guys on here to plan their own trips. It happens, but I can't say it's more frequent than club sponsored ones. It's all dependent on finding another member who knows of a legal place to go.
That being said, no reason you can't post up about having a run and needing another member with a location!

You could post here and ask if some body is willing to wheel.

Thanks guys, I'll post something over there.
I haven't seen anything about formal membership, is there any formality or is the club still too small/young?

We will be making changes this upcoming winter that will take affect in Spring of 2014. Until then, get a (free) feel for who and how we are as a group, and see if it's something you'd like to stick with in years to come!

Re: Hey from Beverly
Definitely a good time, it was nice to meet everyone and I'm definitely looking forward to the next run! Thanks for running the show Ryan!
Now that my nerves have settled, I'm wishing I had tried the water crossing, that and the rocky section that I bypassed later in the day . Glad to have a little experience now, and a better idea of what the jeep is capable of.

Always is that way. Better to wait until you're more comfortable, though, than push your luck on day 1. We'll be out again soon and depending on the difficulty of the run you're more than welcome to push yourself (and the Jeep) further!

I tried to get you across the water, maybe next time,,,your jeep will do it no problem.
Had a great time and it was great to meeting you.
A few times out and you will be much more comfortable with your jeep.
Go at your own pace, you did great as did everyone for that matter.
We all had a great time
Mark,

Good to meet you dude, and glad to meat one of the few other XJs in the club. Like others have said, your best bet with a jeep you have not beat on before is to take it easy first time around, dip your toes in the water so to speak, then you can bash the hell out of it.
