P0138 O2 sensor code
So, I got this code today. Tried to do a little research but from what I've read, people just ignore it or swap out the sensor. Is this a big deal? Should I hit the panic button? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Replace the 02 sensor,it affects your gas mileage! the factory 02 sensor is a ngk/ntk brand that's what you should replace it with.
I just got one recently on e bay, it was less than half the price of auto zone.
You might want to check rock auto also.
No big deal to do, you should do it with the engine cold as it is easier to remove.
It threads in just like a spark plug, looks like one too.

So where is the O2 sensor? The code says Bank 1 sensor 2.

I'M looking for a diagram but not having much luck, but I did find a site with great prices for them.
They are located in/on the exhaust system under the jeep.

The only thing I have to add to this is a strong recommendation for an O2 sensor wrench. If you plan to ever do one in the future. Or any exhaust work, really. Mine has made my life SO much easier.

Depending on your rust level its a good idea to soak it in penetrant overnight, liquid wrench, pb blaster or something like that, could make your life much easier.
I recently did both my o2 sensors, and by 'did' I mean I gave up both times and brought it down the street to a shop and had them pull the sensors for me. MAPP failed me and I legitimately bent the handle of a cheapo Chinese wrench. Also one of the sensors took the threads out with it. But don't be scared by that, from the sound of it you don't have 14 years of NE rust on your exhaust and that should make all the difference..

You are lucky.. my XJ wouldnt even run right when it was throwing that code.
I broke three of those O2 wrenches trying to get my O2 sensor out after 2 days of PB blaster soaks and heat therapy. I ended up needing to cut the O2 sensor down, put a socket on it with a breaker bar AND a cheater bar to get it out. Then it gauled the threads. I happened to have a metric tap set so I was able to chase the thread and make it work..
What i am saying is.. be prepared for war.

This was one the few things where I said fuck it, do not want to deal and brought it to a shop. They told me the same thing happened, destroyed the threads on the way out.

Pretty sure you can rent an O2 socket from the auto-parts store too. That's what I did.
Re: P0138 O2 sensor code
I have a socket if you need one.
