Custom Jeep Jk overhead console.
Just going to share some of the things myself and a semi local shop has been building.
The Overhead console has been a long work in progress but should be complete the first weekend in May. I have all the original drawings but the console has greatly changed from the drawings. The basic idea never changed stick with the basic SPOD design while keeping it trail friendly (fuses and relays no circuit boards).
One of the first 3D drawings converted into 2D for viewing purpose.
View from the inside, with front mount.
So that is a few basic drawings, the console is a bolt in modification zero drilling or relocation of factory components. The front mount bolts in with factory hardware to the hoop in the inside windshield frame. The rear of the console uses the preexisting holes int he center support bar there are what the hardtop would secure through. Sorry to the hardtop owners this version would not work for you but could/may be modified so it would.
So with the use of the fancy Torch Mate plasma cutting table we got started.

Right off of the cutting table few bends and test fitting.
ARB switches and 3 Aux switches one will be for engine fan, other two will be lights.
The first part of the console base.

Re: Custom Jeep Jk overhead console.
Rear mount, spacers are required to fill the gap but I am thinking when we rebuild this in May that it will go between the sound bar and roll bar, this would make it a little more hard top friendly.
Gauge pod attached. Changes to this will be, Removable face to the pod to allow easy access to wiring, also the pod it self mygh be a bolt on to the console over wed on just for easy install.
Prototype is a little closer to being done, CB mount is in and painted it this ended our weekend did not get it where we wanted it but got a good start.
Cut some molly gear panels.
So got everything attached still have to build the side supports, and finish the CB box and angle of the CB mount bit it came out alright.
The lighting in this picture is bad but it is the best installed photo I have at the time.
A peak at what all the switches do.
Viair 450c compressor, ARB locker solenoids. Lights and engine fan are yet to be installed but will consist of a 50" light bar and a 12" light bar on the bumper with pod lights on the windshield frame.
Built the bracket as well for the relay box, it uses existing hardware and is simple bolt in mod.
So if all goes well the Jeep will be back at the shop in May we are going to completely rebuild the console and I will have a finished product to show. Big this to complete is the CB mounting and the face of the gauge pod.

So freaking awesome.
I've been considering buying/making something like this in the future for our JK, cause I don't really like any of the existing places to mount the CB. I have that location available in the YJ due to my sport cage and love it.
