Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
Before I had joined here I happened to notice Mopar offers lift kits. I called up the dealer where I bought the Jeep and had them price it. I was polite and thanked them for researching the price for me.
2" lift - $1400, $995 install..
3" lift - $2400, $995 install
Um no thanks!

Wow a Grand is a lot of money.
Wait it out for a couple / few months and see if you can get together with some of the members and get it done that way.

Well heck even if I were to spend half that in beer and pizza it would take us a week to finish it off!!

One week end and it's done!
You just need the lift kit, tools, a few guys and some good weather.
You can get it done no problem.
OH YEAH, FOOD TOO !!

count me in - I installed a 2" lift in my driveway last fall, it went pretty smooth, even with a little bad weather (Hurricane Sandy)

Ryan and Wayne helped me do an axle swap in my inlaw's driveway in a sleetstorm, ha ha ha
Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
It's very rare to see someone actually willing to learn how to wrench. It seems that everyone belongs to one of two camps; either they already know what they're doing, or they couldn't be bothered and just pay someone to complete mods for them. Props to you, Bill.

Jarret was there for the rear axle during the sleet storm. Wayne came for the front axle in the sunny weather of April

It look's much better! are those the Teflon coated rims?.
Get a little bit of lift under it and you'll be all set.

No coating I am aware of. They are ProComp 7069 17x9 wheels, matte black.

Are the stock wheels stamped steel? Or just made to look like it.

Not sure if you all are familiar but most likely are with wranglerforum.com. There is a vendor on there, guy's name is Aleen and avatar name is AOR. He is doing a special on lift kits of pretty much all kinds. I am talking great deals. I asked about a TeraFlex 2.5" coil with shocks he came back with $686. That is better than anywhere else I have been able to find. Just figured I would share folks.

Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
So I went to Sears today and bought a few hundred dollars in tools. I took my former mechanic roommate with me. I should have a good base set now to work with. I also bought 4 3-ton jack stands. It feels good to have some real tools instead of some cheapo car kit bought at the dollar store.

Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
As an update, I have purchased my shocks to go with the lift (no longer going to be an AEV). The shocks are Rancho RS9000XL series. This week I plan on ordering my Teraflex 2.5" coil lift along with a Rock Krawler adjustable front track bar and Rock Krawler front lower control arms. All this stuff is new to me but from doing a lot of research over the past couple of weeks, this is probably going to be my final option.
Now the big question, how many of you folks like PIZZA and BEER?! Now that I have a good basic set of tools I can at least hopefully add that to the mix, and I do have new jack stands. What I do not have is a garage or even a flat enough surface, a jack or lift, and no power tools. I am guessing that means it will cost me extra beer??
EDIT: Or I may just go with the all-in-one Rock Krawler Max Travel 2.5" Kit. Do it once and forget it until I go up to 35" tires.

Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
I just ordered my Rock Krawler lift kit!
RKJK25MT - RK Max Travel 2.5" Kit
RK02050 - Front Coil Spring Clips
RK03620 - RK Rear Fabricated Bump Stops
TF1953800 JK Front Upper Bump Stops
TF2610000 JK Exhaust Spacer Kit
Will probably be 2-3 weeks for it to get here. I am going to do my best to try to get it installed for Go Topless Day. Am hoping my ribs at the BBQ endear me to you all so the offers to help install will be worth your time!

Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
Congrats!
Best way I've found to get volunteers is just to pick a day and say "who can come?" rather than try and work around schedules. It just gets crazy that way.
You keep offering ribs like that and I'm tempted to fly up from Texas to help out!

Re: Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift
Sounds like solid advice. I will get all the parts organized then put out the word. From what I understand, it will be a couple of weeks at least on Rock Krawler's part.
