It appears to not really be "sites", persay, as it's primitive camping, so you just sort of roll in and set up camp. I'm sure they have an internal cutoff of number of rigs they allow, but from what I understand, it would be pretty hard to hit.

x2. I'd be lying if I told you I haven't watched a million YouTube videos on what we should expect once we're there. I've still yet to try out my new tent, but am planning on doing so Memorial Day weekend, so I'll have a good idea of how many people I can hold if you guys want to plan on sharing space. Is it just the three of us (me, Shaun, Geoff) so far or did I miss an RSVP?
Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
I'm gonna try to make it too, though I'm not sure if I'll be camping or staying at a friends house about an hour and a half away.
I've also watched some videos, though too many of them seem to be XJs rolling lol.

Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
So far just the 3 rigs, but I expect one or two newer members might pop up towards the end after going on a few runs, so I left room for more. I'll probably have my little brother and possibly cousin along as well (although Dianna and the baby will probably remain in Wilkes Barre with my parents for the weekend)
Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
Very cool. My girlfriend's father just gave us a little mini-charcoal grill (not quite a hibachi but not quite a full on grill) last night that I think would be perfect for this. I know there will be a fire pit and all, but my experience is that we'd need a large grill grate for that (which aren't cheap) if we want to cook anything other than hot dogs and canned items, and after one use a grill grate can get pretty gnarly over a roaring fire. I'm willing to toss that in the back if you guys think it's worth it. He also gave us some sort of electric charcoal lighter (which I had no idea existed) so this could present the perfect opportunity for me to test out the usefulness of the power inverter "on the trail" as well.

Sounds good!
My go-to meal for campfires is typically sausage wrapped in biscuit dough with fire-roasted corn, but that's only one meal, so that sounds perfect.

It never hurts to have an actual cooking device..

Wow does that sound good. I think my most impressive campfire meal was a beef stir fry, rice and all. Seeing as it's gonna be 4th of July weekend I'd say burgers and dogs are certainly in order. The grill will make the trip.
Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
Will anyone going on this trip be equipped with a winch? From what has been discussed I know we're not planning on getting into any of the real gnarly stuff, but I'm just curious. I've got plenty of recovery gear but the added security of a winch is always nice, especially far from home.

Awesome. I couldn't remember if you guys had one on that or not. It doesn't have square lights so I haven't paid close attention to it, haha. I'm debating possibly locking the front before this trip, but that's something I need to put some serious thought into. My father and I are hopefully checking out a YJ for him after the run this weekend, so I may have another project to add to the repertoire.

Ha ha, funny how they always seem to snowball before you get done with the first one....
Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
Couldn't agree more. Honestly I'm trying to be reasonable with mine, because I know it's only got a few years left before things will just start rotting off of it, so I'm just trying to get the most out of it going forward without going crazy. I'm reserving the crazy for the next one.
Oreo serves my needs almost perfectly right now and I love the thing, but I've come to terms with the fact that it's just not the platform to invest in and build up. This realization however was an important factor in deciding to go on this Rausch Creek trip because who knows if I'll ever get to make the trip with this one again. I want it to live its life to the fullest.

Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
So only about a month and a half until this trip, anybody else looking to join us down in Pennsylvania? I'm finally testing out my new tent this weekend so I'll get to see how many people it actually holds. And after seeing what she could do at MaBell I'm really excited to put the Jeep through the tests at Rausch.

I'm hoping to get a winch setup before we go.

Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
Yeah, bump for those interested. I feel like I/we should put a plug on the threads from Go Topless and MaBelle. See if the event stirred up interest, ha ha.
Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
I was gonna use the coupon I got from GTD for 40% off any purchase from Superwinch, problem is its still cheaper to buy the one I'd like from 4WD.com even without the coupon, so I'm a bit torn as to what to do. Lots of other little things to do before then as well.

I am hoping to get all of the new parts installed before the trip. Going to be a tough deadline.

Re: Organizing a July 5/6 Rausch Creek Run
Just saw the list on your build thread dude, it's going to be an animal by the time the 4th rolls around. I've got a few things to finish up myself but your to-do list blows mine clear out of the water.
I can officially report that my tent can comfortably hold four people (and their gear for a three-ish day camping trip), so the offer is officially open to anyone looking for temporary housing while we're there.

Let's see how much I can get done. I have to paint my house as well.

Bump for the thread in case anyone else wants to join!
I just ordered a CB for the JK and should be putting on the new mud-terrains this weekend. We'll be ready!

Very nice. Only things left on my list are to finish the flare modifications, replace the rear shoes, and run the wiring for the power inverter. Not a terribly difficult list but the 4th is coming up fast!
