Old Florida Road 10/20/12
Hey all,
Just wanted to put out a notice for the more advanced rigs that Geoff (CrawlingForward) and I will be running Old Florida Road in Adams MA next weekend, Saturday the 20th. The plan is to drive up Friday the 19th after work and camp overnight local to the trail. Saturday morning we'll hit the road and spend the day in the area before heading back Saturday night.
This is NOT a club run, but I'd really only like a maximum of 5 Jeeps there. This is NOT A BASIC RUN by ANY means. It's also not a run for inexperienced people... this isn't me being a dick, it's me being serious and considerate.
Anyway. Let me know if you're interested. 5 is the max, so 3 spots are open. Locked, lifted, tucked of some sort, skid plates, winches, etc are all a necessity.

What is it that you do not have that makes it so your jeep is not ready to go there.

A locker, skids and a tummy tuck. Well, I have the center skid and fuel tank skid, but that's all.

I wouldn't say a tummy tuck is required, a lot of people don't have those.. It would definitely be great to have, as I'd love to get one. Stock skids are good enough, in hte time being tho, just will take a good amount of beatings, like mine have.
At least 1 locker with 33's for this place is needed. Otherwise you'll be pulling cable at all the fun spots...

OFR is totally do-able without lockers. There are basically 2 places where you might have to pull cable: the first ledge at the beginning, and there's another close to the top of the hill. It's a fun run with tons of rocks, but none of them are that big. Last run I did there we had a stock TJ on 31's, unlocked, did just fine (until she broke her rusty tie rod )
Ryan, check out Savoy Mtn State Forrest campground if you haven't booked yet, its just a few minutes from the trail exit, and not too far from the entrance. Sorry I can't make this one, enjoy it guys!

Yeah, after my clearance issues on the last run (and new mashed exhaust) I'm a little nervous, but I at least have rocker panels now!
Is there a lot of underside-threatening rocks? Or are the main challenges mostly ledges?

Well, there's going to be a lack of Ryan's regular high quality pictures, as the DSLR wasn't able to make it this weekend.
We did take a number of pictures of my little point and shoot, though, that will get up eventually. It was a good run with a couple minor damages, but everyone drove home highway under their own power, so it's all good.
While pictures are still being uploaded, here's a teaser shot:
