well front bumper is gone (haha) pinch seam is already hammered so I'm going to take up probably an inch or 2 around the front wheel well and then about an inch all the way around the rear. will have to flex it out some and dial it in.

How do you like those tires so far? Noise level/rumble with the wear? I'm on the lookout for a beefy AT.

Re: TJ's ZJ Build
drove her to work today. Looks like I get some rub with wheels turned in reverse (about 1/2 to 3/4 to lock) and hit a nice big dip while turning today and left a nice line on my tire haha. over all tho pleased with how they fit

Nice! Mentioning the 242 made me remember coming across this chart. According to New Venture themselves the 242 is stronger than the 231 . Whether its valid or not who knows, I know a lot of people claim the 231 is stronger but I'm not sure if they have more than anecdotal evidence to base that on.
This came from the NV wikipedia page.

what i tend to see is the 231 is simplier design, therefore less likely to cause a problem. no matter what, 249 is strongest case of the 3 (thickets chain and what not), but is limited in it's options and has it's negatives.

How is the clearance now? Definitely pick up some edge trim. It's pretty cheap at autozone. I still have some left from my last fender cut project.

Re: TJ's ZJ Build
I have some in the backseat haha will have time Sunday to put it on. Clearance is good I need to touch up some small spots and since I got such a good deal on some jks lcas I can slide the front axle forward 1/4 or 1/2 an inch and I'll be golden. Need to measure out bumpstops still.dongalonga wrote:How is the clearance now? Definitely pick up some edge trim. It's pretty cheap at autozone. Simplicity certainly has advantages, I just thought it was interesting.
What are your plans for the front bumper?

Zjs are expensive as all hell so I'd like to build my own but we'll see how that goes. For now running naked up fronthobhayward wrote:Simplicity certainly has advantages, I just thought it was interesting.

Re: TJ's ZJ Build
looky what i got
luckily I don't have to swap output shafts and what not to the right length, po did it before his jeep bit the dust (got the vin to check and see what the donor came with, had a 249 so po must have swapped everything out, glad I dont have to do it).
also picked up the new set of jks adjustable lowers while I was there (brand new for 225)
need to get those on asap, so if anyone is good at those let me know.

Re: TJ's ZJ Build
Relatively easy to do,
Remove one old control arm, adjust JKS to same length eye to eye and replace, don't forget to grease it and use red grease every time you grease them.
Grease them, remove grease hose, wait for air / grease to escape out of fitting then repeat a couple of times until no air comes out, do not use a power grease gun as it will blow out seals.

zj axles like to be difficult if my last experience is any sign haha. I do need to make them about 1/4" -1/2" longer then stock to slide the front axle forward a little bitMark wrote:Relatively easy to do,

I could have been tagged for other things too. Could have been worsedongalonga wrote:Sounds like a jealous cop to me. I've never had any issues with the cops in my area.

You can come by my place. The driveway is flat enough to put in control arms.
